Why Do Kids Get Cancer? Childhood Cancer Rates Are Rising

Risk Factors and Causes


Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children younger than 15 years old. Most types of cancer become more common as we get older. Because of major treatment advances, more than 80 % of children with cancer now survive five years or more.

 Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia accounts for about 34 % of all cancers in children.
 Brain tumors and other nervous system tumors make up about 27%
Neuroblastoma in infants and young children makes up 7 % of childhood cancers and 
Pediatric kidney cancer accounts for about 5 %.
In short, there’s no single, easy answer.


What Causes Cancer?

·Previous radiation treatment and
·Environmental causes
·Exposures to infectious and toxic substances are unlikely to cause childhood cancer.
Specific reasons are not found for each childhood cancer. The way to prevent childhood cancer is still unknown.
 Problems with development in the womb
 Exposure to infections
 Exposure to radiation
 Previous cancer treatments
 Medical conditions
Certain conditions can increase a child's risk of developing some types of cancers.

Let us give publicity to cancer, because the only way to make it appear like a normal illness is always to come out and say.
